NewGel Reviews

Scars can have a tremendous impact on your overall outlook in life.

More often than not, it’s the scars that we’ve internalized that hurt the most. We tend to live with the damage to our self-confidence long after our physical scars are gone.

While time is ultimately the best remedy, you can help improve your scar’s appearance using a high quality silicone gel like NewGel+.

Silicone gels have been used for scar treatment since the late 1980s and are recommended by an international panel of scar experts. (1)

I’ve tried many silicone gels myself (including NewGel+) in the last few years and it’s really made a noticeable difference for my acne scars and chest keloids.

What Is NewGel+?

NewGel Logo

NewGel+ is currently my top pick for a silicone gel. I chose this product because it’s effective, easy to apply, and won’t break the bank.

I’m using NewGel+ right now on my own acne scars and chest keloids (which I’ve had for years).

NewGel+ uses a blend of medical grade silicones for scar treatment plus 1% vitamin E for added skin hydration and scar smoothness.

In terms of texture, it’s a bit thicker than most silicone gels with a slightly sticky consistency. Competing products, such as Kelo-Cote, have a lighter and thinner texture.

My main complaint about NewGel+ is the price.

Currently, it’s well above average at about $1.80 per gram compared to Kelo-Cote at ~$0.90 per gram or Scarfade at ~$1.17 per gram.

How Does NewGel+ Compare?

How Does NewGel+ Work?

Man Applying Scar Cream to Knee

NewGel+ helps improve the appearance of your scars by normalizing collagen production. (2)

Abnormal scarring, such as hypertrophic scars and keloids, are characterized by irregular types and excessive levels of collagen fibers. This creates hard and lumpy “knots” of scar tissue.

Silicone gels like NewGel+ form a semi-occlusive layer that prevents trans-epidermal water loss while still permitting vital oxygen exchange across your skin barrier. (3)

In other words, NewGel+ helps keep your scar hydrated, which in turn normalizes collagen production and minimizes scar formation. (4)

Vitamin E also helps moisturize and soften your scars. In addition, it’s a powerful antioxidant that can protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

NewGel+ Reviews

Woman Applying Scar Cream

“Amazing scar gel…”

“This gel was recommended by a nurse after my son had a major car accident that nearly took his life, leaving his face scared badly. This gel smoothed and decreased the redness in the scars. I will admit he quit using it…because he’s a boy and boys don’t follow through on this kind of stuff very well. He decided to own his scars. With that said, they were thick scars and very red before he used this product, now they are flat and almost even with his skin tone.”

tbyrd

“Not impressed…”

“I am surprised this has so many great reviews. From reading the reviews, I was convinced this was going to be the end of my scars… it hasn’t provided much benefit, if any at all. My scars are pretty new too, so I should have had the maximum benefit possible. The thing I really hated about this product more than anything is the tube. The tube gets so much air in it, it’s a horrible hassle to squeeze anything out of it. It’s not a problem that has occurred because of having a limited amount of the product left in the tube, it’s been a problem since day one. Just overall poor, low-quality packaging and not a great product…”

Kabuki

“Some improvement…”

“I’ve only been using NewGel a short time but the scars (even older ones) are softer and more even. Time will tell if they lighten in color. So far I’m happy with the product.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Does NewGel+ work on old scars?

Yes, NewGel+ works on old scars. In my experience, I’ve had excellent results using it on my old acne scars and chest keloids.

If you do not see any progress after 3 months, speak to your dermatologist about stronger options such as corticosteroid injections, cryotherapy, and 5-FU injections.

How soon should I use NewGel+?

You can start using NewGel+ on existing scars immediately and on surgery scars after stitches or staples have been removed.

When can I expect to see results?

The recommended treatment time is 60-90 days, however, it may take longer to see results depending on the size and age of your scar.

My Verdict on NewGel+

I hope you enjoyed my NewGel+ review.

I recommend this product for most types of scars, including injury, surgery, burns, and acne.

It’s a high quality silicone gel that can help improve your scar appearance with regular use.

But remember, it’s important to be consistent and patient with your scar therapy routine.

It could be months or even years before you can truly fade away your scars for good.
